Piggy Dry Skin And Wounds

Question
I have two guinea pigs, Buttercup & Cookie. Buttercup started to get dry skin, Then she had wounds all over her. We started to wonder if cookie was barbering her, we separated them, and Buttercup is healing. I need to know how to put them back into the same environment. What if they don't accept each other now? We had them separated for a week, we don't know how to approach this. Help?

Answer
Hi Ana

Before you take any action, please make sure the problem is what you think it is, as there are many health problems, such as mites that could explain the symptoms you describe.

Try introducing them on a neutral surface and clean the cage thoroughly before you put them both back.

I doubt the problem was barbouring though as this would be very surprising in 2 females.
