Question
Hi Jenny,
I just got 2 female guinea pigs today . I went to take a shower and their cage is right near  the bathroom, so i decided to check up on them. I noticed the were making a high pitched squealing noise.Do you know what that means? Thanks so much!

Tollie

Answer
Hi Tollie,

When guinea pigs make a high-pitched squeaking noise, they are greeting you. This can sometimes be purely because they are just being friendly and saying "Hello Mummy", but almost always means they want something - usually food. Don't be sucked into feeding your piggies everytime they squeak; try to get them into a routine. They also want to come out for a cuddle, or there could be a problem in the cage. My boys often squeak when they've knocked their water bottle off.

Enjoy your new pets and if you have any other questions - just ask!

Jenny.
