Question
I have a guinea pig that didn't get on with one of his housemates. They had a fight and have now been seperated. Unfortunately he now has a large cut on his stomach and has had to have stitches. He had the op but ripped out his stitches and has done this again since. I can't keep putting him through ops so is there anything i can do to prevent him ripping out the stitches. I'm also worried about infection. Can i feed him live plain yogurt and/or treat him with Neosporin? Sorry for all the questions but i really dont want to put him down. Thanks

Hello Jon!
Well for the stiches, when my first giunea pig, Runway, cut her tummy in a fight with my other pig, catwalk, she ripped out her stiches to. My vet put a type of vatrinary tape around her and she left it alone. Do not try using your own gauze tape as I think it might be poisonus (best not to risk it).
Warning: the picture I put on the page may cause some heart pian as it is graphic!
I put a picture of what the tape looks like, but your giunea pig will not have it on its neck, as this giunea pig had mange mite sores so just what the tape looks like.
Plain yogurt is not okay even though many sites may say it is. Giunea pigs should be on a diet of vegetables and packaged food. No dairy, sugar, wheat or meat.
I cant find any information on Neosporin, so I suggest talking to a vet about it.
And righ now, if he is acting normal (eating drinking walking) then I do not think putting him down is an option.
