introducting new guinea pig

my girl guinea pig lost her companion last week. she's 4 1/2. should i get another friend for her and if so, what age should the new one, or two be. should i get two?

anything normally works!
I got told babies are fine and will soon learn their place - so getting any ONE from the petstore is fine!
however getting two may only cause the newbies to single out the old one!
