Question
I gave my guinea pig a bath today and came across a hard spot on her backside. I thought it might be crusty fur or something so I continued washing, afraid that if I tried to remove it it might pull on her fur. When I took her out and dried her off, what looked like a scab was hanging off of it. I brushed it off with the towel and it revealed an open sore about a millimeter or two millimeters deep. I recall that scabs are only formed on the surface of the skin and not under the skin, so I don't really think it was a scab at all. I put antibiotic cream on it and I'm still wondering what it is. The scab-looking thing was black and white and the white part of it looked kind of soft, but I didn't touch it. If you could tell me what it might be, please let me know, because I'm afraid for my little guinea pig.

Answer
Hi,
This is a like a minor burn or cut. If it is 1 or 2 millimeters, then you really make sure that you keep a close eye on her and make sure that you put her on medicatons or put antibiotic cream on daily. If you start seeing minor infections like bleeding, then take her up to the vet and make sure that she doesn't itch it or it will get more worse. I would treat this or take her up to the vet now.I hope this helps.
