BEDDING,SICK GUINEA PIG

Question
I put ceddar shavings in my guinea cage.an he got very sick.the store told me not to use the shavings because it would make them sick I had to take him to the vet.what is the best bedding.An what is the dry an green an fruits to feed them.

Cedar is very harmful for cavies as is Pine. The aromatic oils cause Upper Respiratory Infections (URI) and liver damage. Cedar and Pine should never be used, as same with aquariums for cages.
Better beddings are Carefresh, Cell Sorb, Aspen, Natural Hemp, Yesterdays News, Kaytee Soft Sorb and Critter Care.

Cavies need at least one cup of fresh vegetables daily.
These vegetables include Kale, Spinach, Romaine, Green and Red Leaf Lettuce, Grass (untreated) Dandelions, Clover, Endive, Escarole, Bell Peppers and Parsley.
