Introductions

Question
I have a 5 and a half year old intact boar whom I've had since he was 4 months old.
I have tried to introduce him to other guinea pigs in the past without success (I always got scared and pulled them out as soon as they started showing signs of dominance).
He is quite content on his own and I do make sure that he gets plenty of attention.

I have recently moved into a new home and now have the room for more guinea pigs.

I adopted 2 immature boars from my local animal shelter. They appear to be 6 and 8 weeks old respectively.

They have been all evening and night and have been arguing quite a bit. They appear to be establishing dominance at the moment.
There is lots of teeth chattering and squeaking and they charge one another constantly. Lots of nose to the sky battles too.

I have been very good and I REFUSE to separate them unless blood is drawn.

I'm debating on how long I should wait before trying to introduce the new guys to my resident boar.
I don't know if I should throw all 3 of them in right away, and let them work it out,
Or if I should wait until the new boys are more settled and have established themselves before putting them all together.

The new guinea pigs have already been quarantined at a friend's home and show no signs of diseases. They were quarantined separately as they came from separate cages and have just been put together for the first time last night.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Answer
In most cases an older boar will accept the young ones without too much problem. Naturally there will be the rumblestrutting, butt swaying behavior of boar courting what he thinks might be a love interest.  As soon as he realizes it's useless he settles down.

I agree with you that unless there is serious battle they don't need to be separated. There's always a certain amount of "who's the boss" when introducing new pigs to one another. The only way to know if it's going to be a peaceful introduction is to do put them together and watch.

I suspect they'll do just fine. The older boar is a senior citizen now and may well just take it in stride.  I think I would put all three together at once rather than one at a time. It should lessen the race for rank more quickly.  Putting one in, then waiting a few days to add the other just makes the process longer.
