boars vs sows?

Question
3 weeks ago my guinea pig Morwen gave birth to 3 happy, healthy babies. I have just separated them to avoid more pregnancies like this (she was pregnant when we got her), and have now had a chance to see the babies developing their own personalities. I have two little boys who are very friendly and happy to be held and petted, however the one little girl I have is very timid and hates being held, she lives with her mum, who is also timid, but less so. My question is are sows naturally more timid? or could it be because she is still with her mum? My little boys have been tame since they were a week old and still living with their mum.

Answer
Hi Katie,

Some guinea pigs are just naturally more timid than others, regardless of whether they are male or female.  My advice is to hold her gently for a couple minutes at a time, and then let her go.  This may get her used to being held gradually.

Thank you for your question, I hope I have been of some help to you.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck with your guinea pigs (=
