Question
i have an eight month old un-neutered boar guinea pig and i'm thinking of going to a rescue centre to find him a companion. i would like to get an already spayed sow,as i don't want to have my boar neutered, but i don't know if it would be safe for a spayed sow to be with an entire boar. would it be dangerous for her and would they fight?

Answer
Minka,

It'll be fine to have a spayed sow in with an un-neutered male. When keeping two of oppisite sex together without wants for pups (babies) then only one needs to be spayed or neutered.

See if you can't find a spayed sow that is a little younger then your boar, this way they'll get along, also try and get one that is close to his own personality, by doing that they will both get along fine with out any problems.

Just remember to take it slow in introducing them and make sure to quarantine the sow for 2 weeks before introducing her to the boar, that way if she has mite, lice or something that he can catch he won't.

Take care now,
