Toys?

Dear Christina,

    What should I do about toys? I have tried a lot of toys for them but nothing seems to work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should try? I hope you can help.

Hello Katie.

Sure, i have a few suggestions for you. Here are some of the things you can do for fun for you piggy.

1. PVC pipe. It can be used as a tunnel, or also a sleeping area for your pig. This pipe can be bought at any hardware store pretty cheap. Make sure to get the 4" wide pipe.

2. Empty toilet paper rolls filled with timothy hay. A wonderful treat for your piggie.

3. Cardboard boxes. Many shapes and sizes. Just cut some entrance / exit holes in it, and your pig will enjoy exploring.

4. Wooden chew toys / children's wooden building blocks.

5. Empty oatmeal containers. Cut a hole in the bottom.

6. Cat balls. I use the kind that are plastic and have a bell inside.

7. Bricks. I lay 2 side by side in the cage and my pig's like to climb / play / sleep on the bricks.

8. A piece of paper scrunched into a ball. It's good for them to chew because it supplies them with fiber. MAke sure there is no ink on the paper.

9. The best toy of all is another guinea pig. Guinea pigs thrive on the company of other pigs, and are generally much happier having a friend. Did you know that pigs can become bored and restless?
