my guinea pig is not eating or going to the bathroom and he is not drinking

QUESTION: Hi im cassie you see i have had a pig for 2 years and he has been realy fun and heathy but now he is not eating or drinking and not going to the bathroom! my mom said that he could of lost a tooth but we chicked and he didnt. He has lost lot of wight too. Also he always made this cute sound now he doesnt he dosent even play no more! Can you help me i dont want to lose him and his name is Benji i got no money to go to the vet i need to do something fast please help me please!

ANSWER: Is he weasing or have any drainage in his eyes? He might have an upper respiratory infection, which will need to be treated immediately. You have to make sure he eats and drinks, even if that means blending up pellets and water and hand feeding him. Usually when a guinea pig stops eating they die within 24 hours, also make sure you keep him warm, with a heating pad on low if you have one. Hope this helps

QUESTION: he is weasing  he does not like me hand feeding him and the only thing he eats is hay but not a lot but then h is not drinking. Also i do not have a heating pad is there any things else that will help.

Try robutussin DM, Vicks vapor rub on the nose and place him in the bathroom during hot showers. Also keep a blanket in his cage, maybe warm it in the dryer if possible. The dosage for robutussin is on my website. If you have any sulfur based antibiotics at home left over from taking antibiotics you could try medicating him yourself, but really he needs a vet.
