Getting along

Question
I've got an older guinea pig named Davy who's about 8 months old and about two weeks ago I bought a second guinea pig, Sammy, who's about 2 or 3 months old. They got along at first but they got into a fight and the older one bit me pretty damn hard when I tried to seperate them (my fault for using my bare hands). I've been really hesitant about letting them play together again. Is it a lost cause or would they still be able to play together?

Answer
Hello Amy,

Since it was just one fight (and I'm assuming no one but you was injured), it may have just been a disagreement and they may be fine together again. You can try them together again under close supervision but be prepared with a thick towel to toss over them and seperate them if you need to. If they fight again, they should stay seperated. It is worth a shot though, just make sure you have a towel ready so you don't end up bitten again. Try adding some veggies to the play area and that may help stop any fighting that could occur. Good luck!
