Hair problems?

Question
I just brought home a new guinea pig and i noticed that it has no hair on one of his ears. It does not look like there is any damage just no hair. Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with him?

Answer
Hello Holly,

Congrats on your new piggy! Piggies don't tend to have much hair on their ears anyway (they also have a bald spot behind each ear). The amount of hair on their ears tends to very from piggy to piggy. It's most likely just how his ears are. If he's a baby piggy, he may even just be changing from his baby fur to his adult fur. Just keep an eye on him and watch for any odd behavior or for the skin to change but he is most likely perfectly fine. There are things that cause hairloss but with the hairloss being on his ear, they are unlikely. Just to be safe, watch them for signs of trouble, but don't worry too much.
