female and male guinea pig together

Question
Hi! I have a 3 month old female guinea pig, and I would like to buy a 3 month old male guinea pig that I have had my eye on. I do not want to breed these two guinea pigs, I just want to have them both. I would like to get the male neutered, and then keep them in the same cage. I was wondering if there would be any sexual behavior between them, because I do not really want that. I dont want them to be mates, I just want them to be friends. Let me know how these two guinea pigs would most likely behave around each other, and any suggestions on what I should do. Thank you for your time! :)

Well, if you're going to have the male neutered, I don't see that there would be any problem with mating.  However, at least until the hormones wear off, you may see a little sexual behavior from your male, which is normal.  Typically, however, unless you're spending a lot of time watching them, you won't see too much sexual behavior from guinea pigs, even sexually able animals.  They will just act like two guinea pigs in the same cage.

Hope this is helpful.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me.  Good luck!
