Question
Two days ago after removing the pregnant guinea pig from the out side run, i noticed clear slightly pink fluid on her blanket, about the size of a saucer. Since then she still looks pregnant, what does this mean? We expected labour but it didint happen. Is there any obivous sign to if she has lost her babies? Write back as soon as possible.

Answer
One of the babies might have had its sac ruptured, in which case the baby will be dead, but with how much you are describing she might be having a miscarriage of the babies, or the horns of the uterus might be filled with blood. She really needs to have the babies as soon as possible because if she gets an infection in the uterus it could be fatal if not treated in time. You might want to try giving her a lot of parsely, if she is about due to have the babies sometimes parsely can induce labor. There are not too many signs of having lost the babies other than blood and mucous discharge and eventually she will become depressed and sickly, also with an infection you might smell a foul odor. The best thing to do is take her to a vet to get an X-ray or ultrasound done, then the vet might want to give her a shot of oxytocin to stimulate labor. For now though try the parsely and also give her a lot of vitamins in her water to give her more energy. Let me know if you have any more questions.
