SICK GPS :((

Hi there,,,I am in despirate need of answers...This morning i went to check on my 2 male guinea pigs..ages 1 and almost 2. i had noticed a few days ago that they werent eating well...then friday i noticed that one had a gunky eye...BUT TODAY the one witha  gunky eye...is not doign well..he isnt moving i tried giving him some celery ..he didnt want it..i cleaned his eyes with a warm washcloth. and he is just not moving and can hardly hold his body up. IS there ANYTHING i can do before i bring him to the vet..I dont have a credit card, checking account or money and wont have any money until thursday... The other guinea pig isnt eating eitehr and feels liek he is losing weight...:( Please respnd im worried abotu my babies:(

Hi,
  You need to take your guinea pigs to the vet immediately or they could die. Your guinea pigs probably have pneumonia. The gewy stuff is mucus and if they don't eat than they will starve. Here is something you can do.Take their food and crush the pellets into a powder and add some water. Use an dropper or syringe to force feed. Antibiotics will treat this sickness too.You should even give it yogurt to, Dannon makes a plain yogurt with bacterial cultures in it.You need to give some of this with a dropper or a syringe. Do this to replace the good bacteria that the medicine kills, since antibiotics kill all bacteria. If this goes untreated, the guinea pig will die. Please let me know how everything goes.Good luck.
