loneliness?

Question
hi! have had two male guinea pigs for about 5 months now and up to now they have been fine. because they are both males, i presumed the occasional growling and chasing was just a dominants act. however, last Sunday, i found one of them in the hutch (attached to the run) and , cutting a long story short, had bruised his back two legs. The vet thought this was because of Archie jumping on Eddie and he then injured him in a battle for being the dominant male. Now, i separate them at night (i close the flap to the ramp down, stopping Archie from getting up to Eddie). This has worked and has made a significant decline in the amount of nipping and tormenting taking place. HOWEVER, does this mean that, over time, they will become lonely and bored because they are not together 24/7 or is this a good idea? they spend the whole day in the run together and have their own spaces that they can run away to if things get out of hand. As i have said, nothing has really happened after last Sunday's fiasco but i was simply wondering whether this would cause loneliness to them.

thanks, Claire :)

Answer
they will be okay in terms of lonliness the big issue will be that over time they may start to fight because they are seperated so frequently. keep doing what you're doing but if possible i would have a mesh divider so that they can still see and hear each other during the night.

good choice to seperate them.
