2 female guinea pigs aggression

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have 2 female pigs and 2 males, both sexes were living with the same until about 2 months ago, when we thought we would mix them up to see if we could get some baby piggies.
One of the girls is now showing signs of being pregnant so we have now put the 2 girls back in together and the 2 boys too, however, the girls have become a little aggressive towards each other when I put them in  together and I am thinking of separating them, although I have read on many forums that it would be good for the mother to have some help during birth/first few days of motherhood.
Will the aggression stop or is it a good idea to separate them? Will the other piggy hurt the babies?
I already have an extra hutch ready for when the babies have to be separated so I could easily put  her in there for now.
Many thanks.

ANSWER: Hello,
It is a good idea to have the girls together to help eachother. The other guinea shouldn't hurt the babies and she will help the mother by distracting the babies from her and giving her a rest. If the two mothers are aggressive to eachother then you shouldn't put them together.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help

QUESTION: Thanks so much for getting back to me.
The aggression is minor and only seems to be from the pregnant one, whenever the other goes anywhere near her. Do you think she would let her help out when the time comes or will this cause more problems?
I don't really want to separate them but I but I want to give the pregnant one as little distress as possible.
Many thanks again.

Answer
Hello,
Whenever my guinea pigs have been pregnant the other females in the cage have been very helpful playing with the babies and helping with the cleaning. There isn't usually any aggression. I don't think it would cause more problems if there is only a little aggression as that may just be hormonal. As long as there isn't any harm caused between them then I think it best to leave them together as it will keep things normal for her and let the pregnant guinea have some company. If there are nay signs of fighting or hurtful aggression between them then you may have to separate them.
I hope this helps and good luck
