one or two?

Question
Hi Pat,

If I don't need to, I won't yet get another piggy.
But we sincerely want to know what the best thing is for our Daisy. she came late Sep from pet store, she felt like a 5 or 6 yr child. she knew Peanut all her life here with us. Even though they had a rough beginning, but they were with one another till Peanut had to go.

Do you recommend us keeping another one for Daisy's well being, or it would be ok she is the only child of her kind at our home?

Thank you again for who you are!!

Answer
Because cavies are herding animals they seem to do better with another cage mate. But of course there are lots of people who've had just one pig for years and it got along fine. I think that's really going to be a personal choice.

I would recommend that if and when you get another try to get a baby. They're more easily acclimated into the cage with a grown pig because there's less competition for who's going to be the 'boss hog.'

What a shame you're not closer to me.  I have four litters of adorable little ones right now and would be happy to give you one. I may be able to help you find a breeder within a reasonable distance from you.  Just let me know when you're ready.
