guinea pig with breathing difficulties

Question
My 5 year old guinea pig, Harry, has gone off his food and water and is labouring with his breathing. I took him to the vet and he said it might be pneumonia. He gave him an injection of Baytril and said to give it in a dropper for a few days. He seems no better since then, in fact he has eaten less in the last few days and drinks very little now. I phoned the vet again and he said that there was very little else he could do and to keep giving him the Baytril. I am keeping his bed clean and warm and  I give him a hot water bottle as he seems to be cold. Is there anything else I can do for him?

Answer
Yes, you need to forcefeed him and give him a probiotics. Either the Baytril isn't working (in which case you need to switch ABs) or the Baytril is harming his digestive tract. A probiotic will help this.

A dropper? He didn't give you a syringe with measured dosages? He may not be getting enough antibiotic. Many non cavy vets will undermedicate a pig.
