Question
I have just got my first guinea pig.  She is tossing her head and it seems like her ear is bothering her.  Do you have any advice.

Answer
She most likely has either an ear infection, or ear mites. Ear infections are more common and can be from a recent upper respiratory infection, fluid getting trapped in the ear or a birth defect called wry neck. It will have to be treated with antibiotics, however if it has reached the inner ear then antibiotic treatment will be unsucessful. She also may always walk to the side even if treated. Either way she will have to go to the vet. Let me know if you have any more questions.
