piggies constipation?

Question
Hello.  My babe, Hector, has not been feeling well since eating his favorite treat...raw green beans.  He is laying on his side and seems to be very weak.  I wonder if maybe he is consipated.  How can I help my precious babe?

Answer
Hi Melissa

Is there evidence that Hector is constipated? This would be hard, dry poop, perhaps even joined together like a string of sausages.

Constipation is quite rare for piggies but if this is the problem, you need to ensure he gets plenty of fluids and give food with a laxative quality such as dandelions and groundsell.

You can give 0.5ml liquid parafin to help the problem also.

However, it seems like Hector's problem could be a number of things as he seems to be showing signs of general sickness, so I think you should really consult an experienced vet.
