Question

My oldest sow has nails like this.
She is approximately 3years old.

Answer
Hello Yvonne.

No, that is NOT a sign of illness. My oldest sow has toenails that curve to the side as well. When pigs get older, for some reason the nails tend to curve, or not become straight. It's just an old age thing.  Just make sure to keep an eye on them better because they can curve right into the foot pad which can become painful. Keep them as short as you can without cutting the quick in the nail, and that's all you can do. It's perfectly normal.
