QuestionHi Andy
One of our two pigs is going to have a lump removed in a couple of days. We noticed it about 2 months ago and had it checked out by the vet who said she thought it might be a cyst, but to bring him back if it got bigger. Well it has grown a bit - it's a fairly soft, flattish lump on his belly - so we took him back and she thinks there might be one or two more.
My question is: after the lump's removal, is it worth having the lump analysed? It will double the cost of the op, but, as he is only 2 years old, it might be worth doing. Any thoughts, please.
AnswerHi Pat
I think if I was in your position the cost of the procedure would be a big consideration and I would probably just have it removed purely because I am not very wealthy!
Having it analysed would pick up if there was a tumour issue which I doubt due to their relative rarity in pigs and his age.
