First Guniea Pig

Hi...I bought my first guniea pig today. I was getting duck, dog, and horse food at the feed depot, and for the first time I heard a strange sound. I found the saddest creature making the sound. He had a infected eye, and he seemed very scared. I bought him and, food, bedding, and so-on. I gave him a bath because he stank so very bad. I noticed as I was holding, hugging, and drying him that he has a horrible case of lice. What do you do about this?!?! I am taking him to the vet tommorow, will they take care of this do you think? Will it stay away? I love him too much already to take him back.

Hi there!  First let me say it is so wonderful of you to rescue this poor baby.  The vet will give you something for the lice.  It should rid it of the lice and it should stay gone.  When you bring him back home, clean his living area very well to make sure there is none left in the bedding to get back on him.  I wish you nothing but the best with him.
