Question
I received a guinea pig from my niece on christmas. I use to have guine pigs when I was younger. I am now 30 and am now confronted with a problem I never had when I had guinea pigs as a teen. The guinea pig I got was pregnant. I have had great difficulty sexing the guinea pigs. Working full time and going to school adds to this problem. In the recent day the two babies that were larger than the other two began behaving aggressively towards the mother. They were purring and circling the mother and seemed to try to mount several times. I am nervous about having more babies. I took the two and put them in a seperate cage. They both are eating, but one has been squealing loudly and nonstop since the seperatioon. The babies are about 17 days when I seperated them. Did I rush the decision? If not, how long will the baby cry for the mother? I am having trouble doing homework, sleeping etc. I also need to worry about too much noise for my neighbor. Any suggetions on this problem and properly sexing them is greatly appreciated.

Answer
They are only 17 days old! Ok.....usually weaning age is 3 weeks....but if they were eating and drinking....they should be fine.....they should get over the squealing for her soon!

Go to www.caviesgalore.com/forums do a search on sexing......there are some great threads & pictures and directions there!! Good luck
