Question
I have two guinea pigs, Lucy and Dez. Lucy is two years old and Dez is about 14 months old and both are females.  When i introduced them to each other a year ago they got along great and didn't want to be separated from each other.  Now it seems Lucy and Dez are fighting with each other all the time.  They sniff each other and then they bite across the others nose.  After they fight they both sit in opposite corners and chatter their teeth.  I brought another cage out and separated them but still kept them next to each other, but they both go crazy like they don't want to be separated.  I just don't want them to fight anymore and Dez even has a scratch on her nose from fighting! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Matt,

Have they seen a vet? This behavior change could indicate one (or both) of them is ill. I would keep them nextdoor but seperate until after their vet visit to avoid anymore fights. If they are well, contact me again and we can go from there. It will give me a bit of time to give your problem some more thought.
