My GP is sneezing...does she have a cold?

Arn't Guinea pigs wonderful?! :) Anywho, my 1 year-old GP Hazel has lately been sneezing quite a bit. Could this be because she has a cold? My room where she is can be a bit cold at times? Or is it something else? How can I help my seemingly sick friend? Thank you so much! :)

Hello Debbie and thanks for the question,

GPs, like all mammals, sneeze from time to time. If this sneezing comes on in "fits", it may be that they do not like the wood chip dust they are getting. Some (few) GPs are actually allergic to it.

If it is accompanied by mucus discharge around the nose or eyes that lasts more than 24 straight hours, you should see a vet.
