Question
I have a new 5 month old just got yesterday we think she is pregnant.  She started squirting white fluid out of the bottom area not for sure which part its coming from but what is it?  What should be done?

Answer
Hello Jewel,

Could it have possibly been urine? Sometimes if they have too much calcium in their diets their urine can become white and will leave a white powder in the cage when it dries. If it becomes to thick or crystalized (bladder sludge), she'll need to see the vet to check for stones. The best way to fix the problem is offer her foods with not as much calcium (timothy hay based products over alphalpha based products, less high in calcium veggies). If it isn't urine, and it's sort of leaking out, could it possibly be puss from an infection? If so, she should see a vet soon, especially if you suspect she's pregnant. It may be the only way to save her and her babies. I really think it's probably her urine though. If you don't think it is either of these things, let me know. Give me a full description of the substance (texture, clarity, thickness, etc., use comparisons to describe color; egg shell white, snow white, etc.) and I'll see what else I can find out. Good luck!
