Question
My guinea pig Weasley makes a loud clicking almost choking sound usually after he drinks, or when eating apples, im afraid to feed him certain things for fear that he will choke, have you ever experienced any sound like this? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Amy,

The strange sound you are hearing is normal. He isn't choking he is actually clearing his throat, humans cough or something like that to clear their throats, will that is what your boy is doing.

Don't be afraid to feed him  those certain things, just take some simple steps to ensure he won't choke, like make sure there is no strings on the celery that it is a clean cut. Give him bigger pieces so he is more then less likely to choke. Remember to give more veggies and greens then fruits as fruits are high in sugar which can cause diabetes in Guinea Pigs or stomach issues.

You have nothing to worry about, it is a very normal sound. If he was choking trust me you would know it for sure. But the clicking is absolutely normal.

I hope this helps,
  Take care,
