flies and bedding

2 questions  What can I do about the amount of flies around his cage it's getting out of hand.  I'm tired of coming home to flies.  also I just switched bedding from pine to this paper carefree dust free stuff.  Is this causing more flies. should I switch back to pine or will this give him too many respirtory problems in the future

Hello Michelle,
how many times do you change the bedding? I know a lot of people have to change it every few days to keep the smell down. You may need to add some odor eliminators like carbon or ammonia rocks that you find in the aquarium aisle under the bedding to help get rid of more of the stench. That's really all you can do that i know of.
