Ecoli Scare

Can ecoli affect guinea pigs and rabbits?  I feed my guinea pig and rabbit spinach every day.  The FDA has just reported that ecoli has been found in numerous bags of spinach.  I'm in TX and no findings have been reported here yet, but I don't want to endanger my pets.  If so, is there another veggie that is similar to spinach that is safe for them.  I also feed them carrots and brocoli, but spinach is their favorite.

Yes, they can get E. coli so you are right to be concerned. Kale and Romaine Lettuce are favorites among my group and they are leafy greens that have simiilar nutrition to spinach that I'm sure they will enjoy. Here is a website that lists all the veggies they can and can't have, just scroll down to the secotion on feeding. The list is just below it. I'm sure you'll find somethign on it that they'll love.
