Question
QUESTION: Hi, my little boy has a cavy who presented last night with blood from her vagina. She is very sluggish now and is not eating anything - very unusual. She has also stopped making her usual pleasant little noises. Do you have any advice as to how to help her?

ANSWER: GET HER TO THE VETS IMMEDIATELY
Any vaginal bleeding can mean uterine infection or cancer. Leaving her she will most certainly die from toxic shock

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thank you for your response. She has died. On closer inspection, her belly was swollen and it appeared to be bruised - I think one of the children where she had stayed must have been rough as they picked her up and she has bled internally. Very sad, many tears. he hates to see animals suffer. Thanks again, Fi

Answer
What a sad loss
Yes bruising would mean internal bleeding rather than womb problems, bleeding was possibly from the urethra rather than the vagina.
Can't tell without seeing.
I'm sure your little boy feels very bitter at the moment but will come to terms with it in time with your help.
all the best
