Question
ok. we bought two piggies, male and female. two cages, apparently my 5 and 7 yr old decided they would let them have a sleep over. Now the female is getting huge! i am clueless about pigs! i dont know what to do....the pigs r in the same cage. ive now read that they need to be seperated, why is that? will the male eat them or harm them?
also, what is the best bedding to keep that nasty odor away? 1 day  after i clean the cage, it is horrible! i have tried pellets, cedar bedding, and the hay looking bedding. none of them r seeming to work.

Answer
Hi Staci

There is no immediate need to remove the male, he will not eat the babies. However, after the birth you should or he might impregnate the babies again.

For bedding I use lots of newspaper and then shredded paper with hay for eating. My pigs live outside so I dont notice the smell though.
