i have noticed my guniea pig has areas wher there is still hair, but it is not as thick. i have bathed my cavy recently and change his cage weekly. he has a normal appetite and doesnt show any signs of discomfort except when i bathe him. i think he doesnt like baths. is my guinea pig suffering from hairloss? how can i cure it?

First I'm going to have to ask the question..How often do you bathe him?  Guinea pigs should not be given baths too much.  Every three months or so is fine enough.  Don't over-bathe him, it can cause the skin to dry out and hair to thin.

Other reasons for hair loss could be if he is chewing at that area of his body, a fungal or parasitic disease, or vitamin C deficiency.  If you are really worried about it, you should take him to the vet to rule out any serious problems.

Sorry that I couldn't be extremely helpful, but I hope I could be of some assistance.

Answer
If it is an infection, I suggest doing whatever the veterinarian tells you to.  That would be your best bet.  They would know how to treat an infection way better than I would.  So if you plan on taking him to the vet, just follow their directions.  Good Luck.

I'm glad I could be helpful.
