Sneezing and coughing piggy

My guinea pig as been letting out little sneezes every now and then daily which I've read is normal.  But now she is making what I originally thought was coughing noises. But I'm holding her and now and when she does it, it sounds a lot like a squawking bird. It's a really high pitched squeak and she shakes when she does it.  Is this normal or should I be concerned about her?

It sounds like your pig might be suffering from a respiratory infection. The good news is that, treated early, these infections are usually quite easy to treat. Take him to a vet asap who will give you some antibiotics, probably Baytrill.

A word of warning, before the medecine is given/administered, please ask what is being given because some vets who are less knowledgeable about piggies still give penicilin for simple infections, and this is poisenous to piggies.
