Do guinea pigs need hay

I have just become the proud owners of 2 baby guinea pigs, I had hoped to keep them indoors and have bought a cage for them but since they arrived my husband has sneezed non stop and I would like to know if guinea pigs can live without hay, is there something else we could give them?

Yes i suppose they could, if you let them graze alot (on the lawn) then it should be fine, instead you could use a commerical bedding, just make sure that it is not that fluffy stuff for hamsters which is actually poisonous and make sure that you give them daily access to grass.
