Question
hi, ive been told that you cant keep guinea pigs in kitchens because they are sensitive to gas and some pans can give off a fume when being used. But ive just read keeping guinea pigs in kitchens is ok. My guinea pig is in a cage so he wouldnt be running around the kitchen. can you help me on this?

Thanks
Rebecca

Answer
It is just fine to keep guinea pigs in the kitchen, it is birds that you can not keep around the kitchen because of Teflon fumes from cooking pans. Do however keep the pigs away from any excessive heat from the oven or stove. I tend to keep my pigs either in the dining room, living room or bedrooms, but a side area in a kitchen would work out just fine for a pig. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
