Question
Thank you for your reply. Thank you about my name, I'm actually from Ukraine so it's a common name. I give them sometimes around 3 baby carrots. Is that bad? Also I slice an apple and give them each a slice. And I gave them some Romaine lettuce. Yes, they eat Romaine lettuce. In all my guinea pig books they say no Iceberg, so I've been staying away from that.

So I should: Feed in morning and the night.
And give a handful of lettuce? The lettuce I buy is in long peices. Like this: http://felcopruners.net/images/lettucelentissimablonde.jpg
Should I give each a handful of this? Or just two peices? Give them each one baby carrot and then each two slices of cucumber? Is this correct? I'm just making sure I understood what you mean. Let me know if something is wrong.

Also I was reading that guinea pigs won't eat stale pellets. I should leave the pellets in their bowl until they finish it?

Thank you very much.
Anya

Answer
Hello Anya,

Well, too many carrots have been known to cause problems. It can give them an overdose of some nutrient that I can't for the life of me remember at the moment. Generally they should have no more than 1 baby carrot (or baby carrot sized slice of a large carrot) each a day. Two or even 3 leaves of the Romaine apiece (so 4 to 6 all together) and yes 2 cucumber slices. Sounds like you understood wonderfully. And yes you are right, most piggies won't touch stale pellets, but they will usually be gone before they get a chance to go stale, at least they are in my house. I wouldn't leave them more than a day. If they haven't finished them in 24 hours, dump them and give them fresh ones. You don't have to get rid of them twice a day though, just once. Have fun with your wonderful piggies! I'm sure they are perfectly spoiled, just as piggies should be.
