sick pig??

Hi, I have a question about our GP.  I know he is not feeling well.  He is not acting like himself.  Normally he is squeling at us all of the time.  I noticed yesterday(tuesday) he sounded different.(his voice was hoarse sounding) Now today he won't squel at all.  He has lost alot of wait from not eating.  He isn't drinking like normal either.  I usually fill his water everyday or two but this has lasted for four days.  I don't see anying wrong with him by looking.  eyes and nose look fine.  Would you have any ideas on what is wrong with our pig?  Should I call a vet for him?  I just don't know what to do for him.  Thanks, Lisa

Hello Lisa and thanks for the question,

It sounds as though your GP has an internal condition. I would get him to an expert GP/exotic vet with a complete list of his symptoms (write it down). Sudden listlessness and lethurgy are symptoms of serious illness and since this has been mroe than 24 hours of symptoms, definitly get him to the vet.

REMEMBER: DO NOT LET THE VET GIVE HIM PENNICILYN! It kills GPs.

PS: The "hoarseness" may be a symptom of infection OR dehydration. Both are bad news but can be treated.
