extra large litter

My golden retriever is 54 days pregnant with 13-15 pups. Is it possible her uterus could burst?

It is very possible. It's also possible that she will deliver the first 9 or 10 naturally and not have energy for the rest.

Or she may surprise you and whelp them all without fuss.  But it's best to keep your vet's number on speed dial.  

When whelping starts, watch for long duration between pups (too long, spells trouble), greenish/black discharge, and straining and panting without results.

It's also a good idea after the pups are born, to get a small basket (I use Rubbermaid containers) the smaller ones, and split the litter up, rotating feedings.  That many pups will not get the care, attention and food that they need.
