mating my dog

We have a 2 year old Lhasa Aspo that we want to mate, the dog
is keen she has been 12 days since 1st bleed and is moving her
tail to one side. When he goes to mount however she goes to
bite him. Its her 1st mating is she not ready yet?

Is the dog you want to mate familiar to your female?

If she's flagging she should be ready.

Some females don't like to be mounted and may have to be restrained so the male can mount her.

Place her on a lead and hold her head and keep her steady so the male can get to the business of mating without worrying about getting bit.
