Moving house with whelping dog

Question
I have a 20 month old jack russell bitch who is due around the 4th to the 8th of this month. The problem is tomorrow (the 2nd) we are moving house. Not only moving house but towns too, we're moving approximately 8 hours drive away...
I've been taking her temperatures recently and they've been coming down (28th - 101.3, 29th - 100.5, 30th - 99.5 and this morning it was 98.7) so I'm assuming she's going to go within the next 24-48 hours. What should I do? I can't change the day we move as we have a truck coming, and I really don't want to stress her out. I've had her whelping box set up for a week and she's not too worried about it (although she sleeps in there at night), she'd rather be with me. She's also been eating tiny bits of food occasionally. I'm just really worried she's either going to start having them tomorrow, or she'll go into labour but since we're moving she'll get stressed out.
Thanks for any help if you can get back to me before we move anyway!

Answer
Hi Sarah

Gestation is 63 days.  Everything from laying in the sun, to picking up your stress will lower or elevate her temperature. Best to pack the thermometer and let her be.

What I would suggest is put her and the whelping box in a bedroom with the door shut until everything is packed and ready to go.  Once on the move, if possible, place the whelping box in the back of the car.  The bottom of a vary kennel works great as a whelping box and is easy to clean.  She can see you and you can monitor her on the drive.  Make sure you have old towels, wipes, water and paper towels for the road trip.

Once you get to your new place, please her and the box in a quiet corner (a bathroom works great) and let her settle in.

Good luck.
