dog first heat

hi i have 2 jack Russell puppies that are 4 months old they are brother and sister and i was wondering can she fall pregnant on her first heat i do not intend to breed them but i have been told by a local vet that they wont neuter her until she has had her first heat. I had intended to get them both neutered together. thank you very much time and advice.

Hi Yolanda! I don't understand why your vet wouldn't spay her now. You may want to find a different vet. A dog can become pregnant on her first heat cycle. Since you want to have them fixed, I suggest that you try to find another vet. She shouldn't even have to go through a heat cycle before she's spayed. I wish you good luck!
