Question
QUESTION: Hi, I am thinking of getting my 1yr old a small dog. As I have always had big dogs, i wanted to know which breeds dont have too many pregnancy and whelping problems (such as the need for c-sections, are good mums etc). I also need a breed that is patient, like kids and likes other dogs as well....Thank You.

ANSWER: Hi Sarah

It really depends on your personal situation, taste and choice, health of the breed, lines, environment, upbringing, etc., etc., etc.

What is the reason for breeding? What do you want to produce?

QUESTION: hi, i am wanting to breed purebreds. I have been breeding aussie bulldogs, but have found that they have lots of whelping problems that have resulted in me paying more vet fees than i am making per litter! i have a small daughter and want to get a dog that can be "her" pet. Thanks

Answer
I'm probably the wrong one to ask if you're looking to make money.  I believe that a pet should be a pet, that you should be breeding to better a breed, and if you are looking to make an income, you should get a job.  But that's just my opinion.

The cost associate with breeding have to be considered and there are no short cuts. Quality animals should be used to start a program, quality food and quality care all come at price.  When you start cutting corners the breed suffers.
