fake pregency?

I have a question about our rat terrier. She has been in heat going on 3 weeks. We have been very careful about keeping her inside and away from our male terrier. She looks like she is pregnent she looks like she is getting milk
in. She is almost one year old and this was her first heat. Could this be a fake pregnency causing that to happen?

Hi Melanie -- if you guarantee that she hasn't been around any males, then it is most definitely a false pregnancy.  Which is very common and not a concern.  All the signs can point to a true pregnancy without the end result.

Her breast may appear full of milk and she may put on a some weight, but after the hormones have cleared out, she'll be back to normal in no time.
