Question
Hi Renee,
My Labrador Retriever was mated last Sept. 3rd and 5th and we are getting a
bit anxious for the arrival of her first litter.  I have been taking her temp daily
for almost a week now and it is steady in the 37.5 -38 range.  I understood
that 37.5 is normal and when the temp drops to 36...she should give birth
within 24-36 hours.  Any thoughts or suggestions?  I did notice a small drop
of
milk at one of her nipples this morning...I am guessing we are getting close.
Thanks, Greg

Answer
Going by her last breeding date, she was actually due yesterday. Is there anyway they bred later than that? A dog can safely go up to day 65, which would be tomorrow according to her last date. If she wasn't bred any later than Sept. 5th, and nothing happens by tomorrow, I'd call you vet. She'll need to be seen, to see what's going on with her.
