how long can a chihuahua after giving birth for her 1st pup wait for the 2nd.? she had 1st pup in the vets after having a injection to help her push. the vet said to take her home so she could finish giving birth where she would be more comfortable...its been 5 hrs and the vet said to ring by 8 tonight if no sign of any more.what i want to knoow is how long can she go between pups...????

Did your vet to x-rays to see how many pups to expect and where they are placed in the horn?

Typically it should be about 2 hours between pups.  If she required oxytocin for the first pup the second should have been right behind or shortly after as what the drug does is not just encourage contractions but disconnects the placenta(s) so you want to ensure that any remaining pups are left in utero too long.
