Question
I have a few questions for you"

1.  My pom is 4 months old.  I purchased him from a local breeder who did not have papers for him but had papers for his mother.  Will this effect being able to stud my pomeranian if I decide to when he is older?

2.  What is the best way to go about studding?

3.  If I want to register him on my own, or get papers for him, how do I go about that and where?

Thank you for your time

Answer
Hi Francesca -- the best is to contact your local kennel club.  The American or Canadian Kennel Club.

As your breeder for all the information about the lines, registration number etc, pertaining to the sire an dame so you can give to your club of choice.

Papers are a good thing to have but, they are only that.  It should effect anything.  Lineage is more important.

Studding is always a tricky business.  If he is not proven, what are you going to ask for a fee?  Are you going to sign a contract?  Is the female going to stay with you (and are you prepare for any eventuality if she does??) or are you going to ship your male out?  Are you going to test your male for genetic defects?  What if the male doesn't produce? What are you offering to what constitutes a litter?  There are a million questions you need to ask.  A fool-proof, iron-clad contract is best.

Good luck.
