Signs that my dog will soon go into labor.

Question
I have a dog that ran away while she was in her first heat and then her breast started to grow and it looks like shes pregnant, but I think it has been over 2 months which is about how long they are pregnant.  I just wanted to know some of the signs that a dog will display when it is about to go into labor, other than temperature change, I heard that within 24 hours of having pups that a dog starts lactating, is this true?

Answer
Not necessarily. The temperature drop happens within 24 hours of giving birth, and the dog will start exhibiting nesting behaviors as well. Some dogs will have a slight, clear discharge. You should have taken her to a vet weeks ago to determine if she was pregnant or not. I would suggest you do that now. Generally, females have their first heat when they are fairly young, and can have complications during delivery if they are bred on the first heat, and moreso if they were bred by a larger breed of dog.
